The Full Story

About

LATONYA REAGOR, ballerina, dancer, singer, musician, actor, a licensed and ordained clergy minister, is a native of the state of Virginia and raised both in Virginia and Louisiana. Developing many years of dance experience traveling with churches, outreach ministries, celebrity/local gospel artists and through school, she was never formally trained in her beginning years of life. She journeyed on her own road of Damascus. On this road, the perception of her life met the trajectory of her life with the innate for the arts. The Gifted meeting the Gift and the Gift meeting the Call.

LaTonya is your non-traditional professional dancer. At a late age, she experienced her first formal training at the Baton Rouge Ballet Theatre Dance School called the “Dancers’ Workshop”. Throughout life, the sight of living out her passion seemed to be at a far reach. She further pursued a career in the medical field. With a heart and passion to serve and to help people, she experienced a roller-coaster college life between medical studies and the arts. She then later discovered her perception of purpose was through an unfocused lens.

LaTonya has trained in dance at Contemporary Ballet Dallas in Dallas, TX under the primary training of Janicka Arthur and Ruth Ziegler. LaTonya served as a 2018 cast member of the Christian musical production, The PROMISE, in Glen Rose, Texas under the direction of Chuck King at the renowned Texas Amphitheater. She served as a dancer and an understudy in The PROMISE Dance Company. Shortly after, LaTonya was casted as an actress and featured dancer in the musical production, Black Nativity – The Holiday Gospel Celebration 2018 by Langston Hughes under the direction of Selmore Lorenzo Haines with musical direction by Anthony Holmes and choreography by Quintin Jones at the Bishop Arts Theater Center in Dallas, TX. In June 2019, LaTonya was privileged to go on a Summer Tour to Costa Rica and Peru, including the Amazon Jungle, to do missions through the arts as a dance member of Arrows International Summer Team 2019, based in Edmond, Oklahoma, under the direction of Jeff and Natalie Lewis. Concluding her Summer tour, LaTonya continued her dance education as an undergrad student at UTD as a Visual and Performing Arts Major in Dance. She also served in the dance ministry of her local church, The Potter's House of Dallas (2017-2020) as a member, choreographer, and assistant dance instructor for the adult and youth dance ministry under the dance direction of Mickye Castillo. LaTonya is also a Certified Progressive Ballet Technique (PBT) Instructor and a 2019 Chita Rivera Dance Award - Female NOMINEE at The Columns Awards in Dallas, Tx.

After years of seeking God, LaTonya walks in a greater level of obedience by pursuing her passion in dance performance, dance education, dance science, and so much more. Teaching, choreographing, producing, collaborating and mentoring through the arts are the driving spectrums of our owner and director. LaTonya also has a heart, passion and call to mental health and to the youth. In marrying all three areas together - medicine, the arts, and mental health, is the birth of Worship Arts Dance, LLC - "Educate. Execute. Empower." the dancer in you.

Texas Dance Instructor

Lailah Duke

Lailah Duke, a San Francisco native, is a 2015 graduate of Howard University holding a BFA in Dance Arts. She credits her first experiences in dance to Destined 2 Dance Studio and Performing Arts of Oakland, CA., a Bay Area Christian dance studio. Lailah moved to Dallas, Texas in 2015 to join DBDT: Encore! for 2 seasons and consecutively the main company, Dallas Black Dance Theatre for 4 years. She concluded a joyous time at DBDT with their inaugural Jacob’s Pillow Performance in August 2021.

Dance has taken Lailah throughout the nation and overseas such as Iquique, Chile. For the last 10 years, she has taught and choreographed in the styles of Modern, West African, and Jazz. However, Praise dance is the foundation of Lailah’s dance training. In growing up ministering in churches from the age of 10, Lailah has discovered  worshiping Jesus through dance is one of her many callings.

About Lailah Duke's Ministry

Lailah Duke also serves within the local college ministry called the Fellowship of Christian University Students (FOCUS). This is another calling she has yielded to. Lailah was raised in the church, but fell pretty far away from her faith during and after her college years. Around the age of 25 she was reintroduced to Jesus through a friend and now sister, Renee, who was an alumni of FOCUS.

Upon studying the Bible with Renee, Lailah fell in love with Jesus, recommitted her life to him, and boldly left her dance career (right at its peak) because she sensed God calling her to become a pastor in training through FOCUS’s 10 month apprenticeship program. Since taking her last bow at Jacob’s Pillow, and onboarding with FOCUS staff in 2021, she has been at work on UT Dallas’s campus helping plant vibrant, intellectual, Jesus loving communities. She loves getting to make all students (especially those within her ethnical community 😉) feel like they have a place to belong and be loved whether they believe or not.

As a missionary who fundraises her salary, she is always looking for people who are excited to donate to work that is lasting and meaningful. She also is always at the ready with incredible stories about how God daily moves in her ministry (like seriously she could talk your ear off about all the miracles God does).

For questions or if you would like to support her in meeting her fundraiser goal, please contact her by calling 415-933-3877 or emailing lailah.duke@anyfocus.org
